Chilean conductor, violinist and composer born in Santiago, Chile, in 1934. He studied at the State University of Chile in Santiago and at the High School of Music in Stuttgart, Germany. He graduated as violin teacher in Germany (1962), furthermore in composition (1964) and musicology (1966) in Chile. He studied orchestral conducting with maestro Teodoro Fuchs in Chile, and with professor Hans Müller-Kray in Germany.After being violinist at the two main chilean orchestras, the Philharmonic Orchestra of Santiago (1955-1958) and the Symphonic Orchestra of Chile (1958-1965), Serendero dedicated preferably to the orchestral conducting. 1961 - 1962 he was concertmaster at the Heilbronn Symphonic Orchestra, 1962 orchestral conductor of the Chilean National Ballet, 1965-1966 conductor of the Osorno Philharmonic Orchestra and 1967-1972 conductor of the Symphonic Orchestra of Chile. Moreover he teached at the Music Faculty of the State University of Chile (1962-1972) and was director of the National Music Conservatory (1968-1970). He created and directed there the Course of Orchestral Conducting, at that time a novelty in Latin America. He moved 1972 to Germany. 1973-1999 was member of the Rhenish Philharmonic Orchestra in Koblenz and 1973-2008 conductor of the Rhenish Collegium Musicum in Wiesbaden. Since 2008 he lives again in Santiago, Chile. In the sixties he was guest conductor of most of the Chilean Orchestras as well as in Mexico, Argentina and Peru. In 1969 he was distiguished by the Chilean Art Critic's Association as the best musician of the year. After 1972, besides his usual activities in Wiesbaden and Koblenz he has conducted the Orchestra of the Beethoven Hall in Bonn and realized recordings for the Broandcasting Stations in Baden-Baden and Luxembourg. In Chile he has conducted occasionally in Santiago, Concepcion and Temuco. 2007 he directed successfully a Seminar for Orchestral Conducting at the Escuela Moderna de Música in Santiago. As composer he obtained 1960 the main prize at the Student Composers Awards of the Broadcast Music in New York with his cantata "The Legend of Creation", 1962 his piano rhapsody "Reinhild" got an honour diplom at the Eighth Chilean Music Festival organized by the State University of Chile and 1970 his "Strata" for orchestra won the highest prize at the Louis Moreau Gottschalk International Music Competition of the Dillard University in New Orleans, USA. His last orcherstral works are "Children's Suite" (first perform in Wiesbaden, Germany, 1985, first perform in Concepcion, Chile, 1986), "Carnival at the Rhine" (first perform in Santiago, Chile, 1992, first perform in Wiesbaden, Germany, 1993), "Triptych" for Recorder and Orchestra (first perform in Wiesbaden, Germany, 2003), "Pictures of the Fatherland" (first perform in Wiesbaden, Germany, 2006) and concert for violin and orchestra (published 2009).
